We aim to make a real difference and everything we do supports the patients treated by our hospitals, directly or indirectly. The NHS provides funding for healthcare, staff and equipment. Our role is to fund those added extras that make a huge difference to the lives of people using UCL Hospitals. These could include:
Buying an important piece of medical equipment to enhance treatment
Improving the hospital environment by providing flowers, art and music
Funding extra training or conferences for staff
Financing research that may lead to the development of better therapies
Providing presents for patients in hospital over the Christmas period

Pathway, Healthcare for homeless people
UCLH Charity provides grant to the Pathway, one of the leading homeless healthcare charity, helping the NHS to create hospital teams to support homeless patients. Each team includes a specialist GP, nurses, allied health professionals, housing experts and in some hospitals, Pathway Care Navigators: people who were once homeless who we train to support homeless patients.
The University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre
The centre was purpose built to provide patients with access to the very best treatment, support and advice for their particular type of cancer. UCLH Charity provided £6 million for the first PET-MR in the UK.
The University College Hospital
University College Hospital was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen. UCLH Charity contributed £4 million of equipment to the new hospital which housed state-of-the-art facilities using cutting edge technology. Staff were then preparing for the subsequent transfer of services from The Middlesex Hospital to the UCH site.
Neuromuscular Complex Care Centre
UCLH Charity provides grant for this new centre of excellence in providing outpatient department at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London. The project was delivered in two phases of construction, upgrading an existing out-patients department and fit-out of the new NMCCC.
Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH)
The institute was identified as a legacy of the 2012 London Olympics and delivers world class unified elite sports research and treatment. The Charity provided grant for this facility and comprises of new offices and research facilities at first floor and on the second floor, conversion of existing office unit into new clinical facility including MRI, X-ray room, gym and consulting rooms.
Chenies Mews Imaging Centre
The Chenies Mews Imaging Centre is part of QS Enterprises, a wholly owned subsidiary of the UCLH Charity. The facilities share a common purpose; to make sure that everything we do is geared around the patients. The new site offers improved technical capability and flexible for both MRI and Neuroimaging services.
